VMD-354 was typical of Marine Corps Squadrons operating
during World War ll. The squadron was made up of a small
experienced nucleus of Officers and Enlisted men, while the bulk of the squadron was newly trained Pilots, Ground Officers and Enlisted men. From this group evolved a highly trained and motivated organization that did an outstanding job executing all missions they were assigned during their, Tour of Duty.
This brief snapshot of their history is dedicated to all the VMD personnel who took part in this period of our Nation's History and their individual and collective contributions that lead to the Allied Victory in World War ll. They all earnd and truly deserve the title of U.S. Marine! Semper Fidelis Marine!!
My own congratulations on a job well done.
Warmest Regards,
Major Gen. Louis J. Conti
USMCR (Ret.)
