
On 30 November 1945, CWO Walter A. Belasco became squadron C.O. CWO Walter Belasco and 1stSgt. Charles J.Zukoski brought the squadrons records back to MCAS, Cherry Point, NC
In December 1945, orders were received transferring VMD-354 from MCAS, Cherry Point, NC, to duty at Marine Corps Auxiliary Air Station, Kingston, NC. There was one officer and one enlisted man assigned. All squadron records were also transferred.
During the following 10 months, the squadron had a series of Officers, each of whom, served as Squadron Commanding Officer for terms of approximately one month each.
On 1 July 1946, VMD-354 was a "Paper Only" squadron. It was staffed with a Commissioned Officer, a Photo Officer and Sgt.Major. Flight operations were carried out by Headquarters Squadron 53, MAG-53.
On 1 November 1946, VMD-354 became an Operating Squadron with Major A. Hood as Commanding Officer.
On 31 May 1947, MAG 53 was decommissioned in its entirety. Personnel in the Service Squadron, Headquarters Squadron 53 and the Night Fighter Squadron, were divided between VMD-354 and VMF-531.
On 6 December 1946, the name of the squadron, VMD-354, was officially changed to VMP-354.
On 5 December 1949, VMP-354 was officially decommissioned.
